A New Beat from New York to Tel Aviv
Music can break the barriers of time and space, of borders and cultures, of language and of understanding. Music can be everywhere, it can be universal, and yet it can mean something different to each and every listener. Don’t believe it? Rapper Clap Cognac and R&B singer Monique Baines, along with their manager Gilat Weiman and producer Alon Melamed, have started a project to prove it.
Having been inspired by the culture, the people, and especially the food of Israel, the New York-based singers are working together to mix Israeli influences into their music.
Baines explains, “I’ve always been interested in Israeli culture and music. A lot of people in New York stay within New York limits. We wanted to do something out of the box.”
“It’s going to be something that people haven’t heard before. People need to get ready for it. It’s going to be groundbreaking,” adds Cognac.
Everyone involved in this project agrees that cross-cultural music has huge potential, because no matter who or where you are, music is music.
