The new Old Jaffa Port
"This old port has become renewed and very welcoming," says a lunchtime patron of one of the eateries at the Jaffa Port in the southwest sector of Tel Aviv-Jaffa. "It is a cultural gathering where you can really feel coexistence."

Funky, avant-garde artistic works decorate the area, and musicians liven the atmosphere. During the day, the port attracts families and visitors of all ages. After dusk it becomes a cool, romantic spot for couples to check out the pubs and shops.

But some things haven't changed from the olden days, as another port regular points out. "If you come early in the morning you can still see the fishing boats coming in with the catch of the day."
