Israel's consul general to speak at town hall in Arcadia
With issues like the Syrian conflict, Iran's nuclear talks and Egyptian elections at the forefront of current events, locals will have a unique opportunity Tuesday to learn more about the issues facing Israel and the Middle East.Consul General of Israel David Siegel will speak at the Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys Tuesday evening in a town hall setting that will give Jews and non-Jews alike a chance to ask questions about the current situation in the region.
"David Siegel is the highest-ranked ambassador from Israel in this part of the country," said Jeff Landau, the chairman of the Jewish Federation's Israel Committee. "To have him here to speak to us and address these various issues is an extraordinary opportunity."
Landau said this is the first time the consul has come to speak in the San Gabriel Valley.
Siegel, who serves as an Israeli ambassador to the communities of seven different states, said he thinks it's important to venture outside of his Los Angeles office and give community members a taste of Israel "beyond what you read in the press."
