On Thursday, April 11, 2013, guests were invited to experience a melding of flavors as Chef Gregorio Stephenson of Nobu Malibu and Chefs Assaf Granit and Uri Navon of Machneyuda Israel showcased their skills for an unforgettable evening of culinary delight!

Michelin star award recipient Chef Gregorio and the renowned Israeli chefs came together for this culinary collaboration in celebration of Israel's 65th Independence Day. The evening consisted of a savory five course menu especially crafted for this event which ranged from umami sea bass to skikshuit. The unique and savory dishes paired perfectly with wines from the Israeli Wine Producers Association.

"On Israel's 65th birthday, we take pride in featuring Israel as it really is," said Consul General David Siegel, "with its own mixture of cultures, flavors and aromas. But it doesn't end there. Israel is also a powerhouse of medical, environmental and technological innovation, providing solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems. At this time of great uncertainty and upheaval in the Middle East, there is one country, one vibrant and strong democracy, which America can always count on. And that country is Israel."

In addition to receiving a treat for the palate, guests shared in the honoring of Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle Corporation, for his unwavering support of the State of Israel. Upon accepting the honor from Consul General David Siegel, Larry Ellison spoke about his life-changing experiences while traveling in Israel. Mr. Ellison said that he is proud to be honored on the occasion of Israel's 65th Independence Day because of the vital importance of the Jewish state to the free world.

Following the food and award presentation, guests were treated to live musical performances in a show produced by the legendary David Foster. Performers included Nicole Scherzinger, Sandra Lynn Ellison, Peter Noone, Fernando Varela and Thailand's Got Talent winner Myra Maneepatsorn Molloy.

Also in attendance were Nobu Matsuhisa, Guy Oseary, former California Governor Gray Davis, Haim and Cheryl Saban, David Agus and Arnon Milchan, among many other friends and supporters of Israel. The event was generously hosted by Meir Teper.
