Israel is one of the most thriving centers of musical activity in the world. Israeli artists successfully create a colorful range of hip-hop, rap, reggae, electronic, rock, folk, techno, and are also leading creators of trance. After the birth of Israel we saw a unique Israeli musical identity form by the melding of many different cultures. The wide variety of influences on the Israeli music scene created a versatile and eclectic industry.

Israel is well known for its famous classical orchestras and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra under the management of Zubin Mehta, who has a worldwide reputation, and who has conducted the legendary Three Tenors. Israeli rock is often more subdued than American or British rock; however, Israel also has an active underground scene of alternative artists playing heavy metal and punk. Our youth has played a major role in Israeli musical development and in the popularization of hip-hop which has recently entered the mainstream Israeli music industry.
