Literature
Israel is world-renowned for it's
Hebrew-language literary achievement. Israeli publications
are seen at key International book fairs and on the shelves
of bookstores worldwide. Literature in Israel is now not only
being produced in Hebrew but being translated into a variety
of languages to be exported around the world.
We have begun to see a dramatic rise
of publications in Israel as well as an impressive growth
in the number of female writers being published. The Israeli
literature market today is not only known for its fiction,
poetry and drama but for an extensive list of children's books.
"Israel has a rich and rapidly evolving
literary culture, inspired both by the drama of its emergence
as a new state and by the interaction of immigrants from diverse
cultures in its small but vibrant population. Amid a debate
on what constitutes contemporary Israeli culture, a new wave
of authors and a wide variety of literary styles have emerged
in Hebrew fiction and poetry."
